Automatic recalculation of navigation instructions will happen based on settings in Android Locus Map. In case the user leaves the route, a small arrow will turn to red navigating back to the route and an unknown navigation action will be shown as visible on the second image. The small arrow on the edge of the display shows the true direction to the next navigation event for better orientation. In the text, instruction is either name of the street to which you should heading or if unknown, text description of direction what user should take there.īelow the horizontal line, there is distance and expected time to reach the end of the route. It shows the next navigation event represented by a big graphical icon, distance to it and text instruction. This is the main navigation screen available if navigation or guidance along the routes is running in Locus Map on Android. If the app is already running, track import will be ignored by the Garmin app to prevent possible loss of activity data. This functionality currently works only if Locus Map in Garmin isn’t already running. You can then select whether to automatically start navigation along this route by some of the native activity app or save it on the device for later. Then confirm the automatic start of Locus Map on your Garmin and wait for import completion. Open in Locus Map in Android track you want to work with and click to Share icon > Send to Garmin.
You don't need to import courses to Garmin if you want to use navigation/guidance controlled directly by Locus Map android application. Locus Map app in Garmin doesn’t further utilize imported courses, they are only for use with native Garmin activity apps. The feature is available only on Garmin devices with native navigation capabilities. This feature allows user by an easy process to do the export of desired route/course/track from Locus Map and import it to the Garmin device. Let us know if you miss your device in the list! Fenix 3 models can't render graphical navigation instructions when garmin activity recording is active for the same reason. Please let us know if you experience crash of the app on those devices! It also means that some features might not be available for those watches. But at least the POI icons show up when nearby.* these devices are extremely memory limited.
I have not figured out how to get Tour Guides with circular proximity working in it like they do on my nuvi. But writing a POI file right to SD with card reader worked. PS: Palm Desktop did not know what to do with a POI file when poiloader handed it a file as an iQue. The 10x works with nRoute too, but only after I added its map unlock codes to Mapsource.
Mine came with City Nav NT 2008 and Garmin gave me free unlock code for 2009 maps (already had 2008 disk and 2009 update DVD from eTrex). But if installed on a Smartphone with built-in GPS, the maps would likely be locked to that phone.
I don't know if the program itself is actually locked (since it can be updated), but maps are locked to a specific GPS device, in my case the Bluetooth 10x that came with it. So I am running Mobile XT with its data on a totally different card. Garmin specifically warns not to mess up data on the card. I have Garmin Mobile 10 for Smartphones which makes my Palm TX look like a nuvi. Why does everyone who has never used it think Mobile XT is locked to a specific memory card, or are some versions? I suspect that is because maps preinstalled on microSD are locked to that card. (It's really cool to watch your location in GMM Satellite View) For now, Google Maps for Mobile is good enough as a backup to my Nuvi. Even just swapping cards wouldn't have worked very well with the Touch since the battery compartment has to be opened to get to the micro-SD card. 2GB is awfully small, considering smart phones usually double as MP3 players, are used for downloading email, etc. It is unfortunate that Garmin Mobile XT is locked to its card. The upside is you can get a decent Smartphone for very little money, in my case an HTC Touch for $50 which would have normally cost upwards of $350. The downside is that a 2-year contract extension is needed.
I've been a loyal customer of a major wireless carrier, and every two years they allow a phone upgrade with substantial discount and rebate.
Unfortunately smart phones are expensive without a plan. access to emergency wireless 911, if necessary In fact, I may not even subscribe to a cell phone plan.
